How To Look After Your Invisalign
‘Invisalign’ is a form of clear aligner system that straightens your teeth gradually over a series of aligners. To create your aligner system we will scan your teeth with the ‘Itero’ intra oral scanner, which will then generate a computer generated preview showing you what the end result would look like. If you are happy with the simulation, your records are then sent to the ‘Invisalign’ technicians who create a ‘clin check’. At this stage we check the ‘clin check’ to ensure the system will aim to give the desired result. Once approved the aligners go to be manufactured. We can then expect to receive the aligners back into practice within 3 weeks.
Once you have had your ‘Invisalign’ system fitted, it is important to follow the wear and care guidance to ensure a successful result.
The aligners are to be worn for a minimum of 22 hours per day and are to be removed for eating and drinking anything that isn’t cool water. Should you have a warm drink with the aligner in situ it may cause the aligner to deform and become unfit for purpose. After eating or drinking your teeth must be brushed before placing the aligner back over your teeth.
When you brush your teeth in the morning and before bed please also clean the inside of the aligner this can be done by using a manual toothbrush and water. This will remove any plaque that may have built up in the tray throughout the day and night.
When your aligner is not seated in the mouth, please ensure it remains in the box provided, this will prevent the aligner from being discarded accidentally.
